The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
This guide aims to give some information to collect all 23 hidden achievements found in Gamelofts 2020 version of “The Oregon Trail”. We know that there are people who have a hard time finishing the The Oregon Trail game. If you are one of those who find it difficult to finish the game, let’s take you to our The Oregon Trail guide.
1. Antiques
Pre-requisite:
- To complete this Achievement you must have 1st played thru “The Oregon Trail” one time so you can unlock the “Grandfather’s Clock”.
Completion:
- To acquire this achievement you must purchase the “Grandfather’s Clock” in Independence,MI and manage to carry it all the way to Oregon City, OR.
Tips:
- Grandfather’s Clock cost = $100
- Grandfather’s Clock can ONLY be purchased in Independence,MI
- I used wagon grease as much as possible to keep the wagon from damaging the clock.
2. Chasing Rainbows
Pre-Requisite:
- None
Completion:
- Catch a Yellow-fish Cutthroat Trout
Tips:
- I’ve had better luck catching achievement fish on the “Oregon or Bust” journey.
3. Fact or Fiction – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Meet John Evan’s which will begin the quest “Wish Upon A Star”
- Farther along the trail you will have the opportunity to “search” for the meteorite.
- It is a random chance that you become lost while searching for the meteorite. Becoming lost will unlock the achievement.
Tips:
- The map from John Evan’s cost $20.
4. Fool Me Twice
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Receive Fool’s Gold 2 times throughout your journey.
Tips:
- A good Prospector can identify Fool’s Gold.
5. Fort Boise
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed in any “Oregon Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Arrive with at least 1 party member to Fort Boise.
Tips:
- Reaching Forts will unlock them for future fast travel.
6. Fort Hall – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed in any “Oregon Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Arrive with at least 1 party member to Fort Hall.
Tips:
- Reaching Forts will unlock them for future fast travel.
7. Fort Laramie
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed in any “Oregon Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Arrive with at least 1 party member to Fort Laramie.
Tips:
- Reaching Forts will unlock them for future fast travel.
8. Gold in Veins
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- The party must activate “Gold Fever”, which can be identified by the gold bar symbol in the top right of the screen.
- Fill this bar by collecting gold nuggets along the trail.
Tips:
- Gold nuggets can be collected faster using a Prospector.
9. Golden Sunset – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Arrive with at least 1 party member to Sutter’s Mill California
Tips:
- An additional achievement can be made if a Prospector makes it to Sutter’s Mill.
10. James Beckworth
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed in the “Tall Tales” journey.
- Unlock the “Tall Tales” journey by completing the “Winter Migration” journey.
Completion:
- Beat James Beckworth by collecting more furs than he before reaching the end of the journey.
Tips:
- You will only be able to trade furs for more ammo and/or animal traps.
11. Meek as Moses – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed in the “Lost Hollow” journey.
- Unlock the “Lost Hollow” journey by completing the “Winter Migration” journey.
Completion:
- Make sure that Stephen Meeks survives the journey.
Tips:
- Food Supplies is shown by the “Barrel” symbol in the top right.
- Flour is shown by the “Chicken Drumstick” symbol in the top right.
12. Pawnee Villages
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed on “Winter Migration” journey.
- Unlock “Winter Migration” by playing through “The Oregon Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Complete the journey “Winter Migration”
Tips:
- “Winter Migration” unlocks numerous journeys including, “Tall Tales”,”Lost Hollow”, “A Fur Trade” and “Bitter Winter”.
13. Peperony and Chease
Pre-Requisite:
- Characters must have custom names that you chose at beginning of journey.
- Can be completed in several journeys where custom names are allowed.
- For Example; “The Oregon Trail” , “Oregon or Bust”, “The Nature Trail” , and “The California Trail”.
Completion:
- Upon death of a custom named character, make sure to leave an epitaph on their grave.
Tips:
- If the character happens to die of dysentery you can receive 2 hidden achievements.
- Allowing the health bar deplete will “kill” the character.
14. Performing Sturgery – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- None
Completion:
- Catch a Lake Sturgeon
Tips:
- I’ve had better luck catching achievement fish on the “Oregon or Bust” journey.
- I’ve caught the Lake Sturgeon in numerous journeys on the 1st map, before reaching the Kansas River.
15. Rendevous
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed on “Rendevous” journey.
- Unlock the “Rendezvous” journey by completing the “Pushed West” journey.
Completion:
- Complete the journey “Rendezvous”
Tips:
- “Pushed West” journey is unlocked by completing “A Fur Trade” journey.
16. Sky High
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Have a nitroglycerin explosion cause the death of a character.
Tips:
- Packing nitro close together can increase a chance of an explosion.
- Having a Prospector in your group will lower the chance of an explosion.
17. Slippery as an Eel – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- None
Completion:
- Catch a Pacific Lamprey
Tips:
- I’ve had better luck catching achievement fish on the “Oregon or Bust” journey.
- I’ve caught the Pacific Lamprey between Three Island Crossing and Fort Boise.
18. Smithereens
Pre-Requisite:
- Unlock “The California Trail”
- Must be completed on “The California Trail” journey.
Completion:
- Have a nitroglycerin explosion cause a break down of the wagon.
Tips:
- Packing nitro close together can increase a chance of an explosion.
- Having a Prospector in your group will lower the chance of an explosion.
19. That’s a Paddlin’
Pre-Requisite:
- None
Completion:
- Catch a Paddlefish
Tips:
- I’ve had better luck catching achievement fish on the “Oregon or Bust” journey.
20. Thief in the Night
Pre-Requisite:
- None
Completion:
- Have an in-going or outgoing theft of supplies.
Tips:
- It triggers often when staying at camps with the “Celebrate” option.
- I also received the achievement for my party stealing items from a passing caravan.
21. Trail Food
Pre-Requisite:
- Lots of Hunting and/or Fishing
Completion:
- Have your party consume 1,000 pounds of food.
Tips:
- This can be achieved over multiple journeys.
22. Winter – The Oregon Trail Hidden Achievements Guide
Pre-Requisite:
- Must be completed on “Bitter Winter” journey.
- Unlock the “Bitter Winter” journey by completing the “Winter Migration” journey.
Completion:
- Complete the journey “Bitter Winter”
Tips:
- Not all foot prints lead to missing characters, choose wisely!
23. You Have Died of Dysentery
Pre-Requisite:
- Catch the disease dysentery.
Completion:
- Have the disease dysentery cause the death of a character.
Tips:
- Dysentery can often be triggered by drinking bad water, or a lack of water.
