Tales of Arise Talka Pond & Mountain Trail Guide
Leave Viscint via the southern gate to reach the Talka Pond and Mountain Trail. Before we reach Mahag Saar, we must first pass through Mount Dhiara. Talka Pond Road is a short stretch of land with a campsite and a merchant at the end. Also, you will unlock Fishing here! If you catch something good, you can sell it to the merchant from a good chunk of Gald (depending on waht you catch, of course). New lures can be found throughout the game and there are plenty of fishing ponds you’ve come across before now that you can travel back to.
Once you’re done fishing, rest at the campfire and sell any of the fish you don’t need to the merchant for some extra cash. When you’re ready, go to the next area, the Mountain Trail of Mount Dhiara. After a few cutscenes, you will unlock the additional artes panel.
There’s a blue treasure chest containing 7300 Gald to the right. Follow the main path and take the next fork in the road to the large dead end on the right. You’ll find a Stonewing Mantle x1 in the red treasure chest. Follow the main road and take the ladder down to the right to enter the Cavern. You’ll find an Orange Gel on the ground and at the end of the cavern, you’ll find rare ore and a Stonewing Mage Coat in the red treasure chest. Now go back to the main path.
More Talka Pond & Mountain Trail
As you could probably guess, there’s a boss fight up ahead. Instead of traveling back to the city to heal, you can take the northern path on the Mountain Trail marked as ??? (called the “Ridge”) to find a campfire and a merchant. If the monsters in up to now are difficult for you, I recommend leveling and using the campfire to rest and heal before going forward.
Now head to the Mountain Base to encounter a cutscene and a very difficult opponent that you may remember: the Mysterious Swordsman. This is purely a survivability fight. Your goal is to survive and damage him as often as possible. I had Rinwell set as my battle character. He will constantly target your primary character, while the other party members wreak havoc on him. I hope you’ve gotten really good at using your dodge button. Dodge everything he throws at you, and let your teammates handle the rest. Use Battle Actions whenever possible! Watch the cut scene and make your way to Mahag Saar!
