Efficient Crop Farm Layout for Vertical Farm
First Expansions (8×14)
- 1 4×4 Crop Patch requires the following facilities:
- 1 Storage Unit (Shared with 4 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 1 Water Well (Shared with 2 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 2 Water Bots
- 1 Harvest Bot
- 1 Biofuel Converter (Shared with 2 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 1 Bench (Shared with 4 4×4 Crop Patches)
(2×2 Crop Patch and white flowers are there because I didn’t want to leave any empty spaces.
You can fill them with whatever you want.)
- Don’t need to place Biofuel Converter next to Patches.
- Biofuel Converter only need storage, so you can just set them aside somewhere else.
- Placing Biofuel Converter next to Patches will only get in the way of watering and harvesting units, increasing their travel distance.
- I put it in front of Rusty’s house (because if it’s in front of Rusty’s house, you don’t need a another Storage Unit!).
Second Expansions (8×14 x2)
Now 1 4×4 Crop Patch requires the following facilities:
- 1 Storage Unit (Shared with 4 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 1 Water Well (Shared with 2 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 2 Water Bots
- 1 Harvest Bot (Need Upgrades for Shared with 2 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 1 Biofuel Converter (Shared with 2 4×4 Crop Patches)
- 1 Bench (Shared with 4 4×4 Crop Patches)
If you don’t want to upgrade your Harvest Bots, you can keep the layout you used in the first expansion (1 Harvest Bot for 1 4×4 Crop Patch).
If you’re afraid of the spiky feet of your Harvest Bots and want to keep them as few as possible, upgrade them to:
The bot can hold 3 crops at once and is slightly faster.
You can place berries in empty spaces where there are no Crop Patches.
Inside a 16×14 (two 8x14s), you can fit 1 Bulb Hive, 2 Berry Bots, and 24-16 Berry Bushes (Depends on whether you created space with the Harvest Bot upgrade).
I don’t know how good the Biofuel production from the berries and hives will be, but it’s better than leaving the land empty. The bots are too busy to add more Patches.
Also I’m not sure how effective the butterflies are, but they’re just pretty, so I placed them in the spare space (Under the Biofuel Converter).
Biofuel Converter and Biofuel Bot
Again, you don’t need to place Biofuel Converter next to Patches.
For an organized layout, 4 Converters and 3 Bots seems to be perfect.
For now, I’m upgrading the capacity of each bot by 1 to balance crop production and Biofuel conversion.
