Arthur Morgan might be calling the shots this time around, but John still plays a part in the sequel. Here’s where to find John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2.
John Marston plays a big role in the first game, assuming the role of the primary protagonist. He’s a playable character who sets off on a mission to bring three crucial members of his old gang to justice in exchange for his wife and son’s freedom from the government.
While he doesn’t play an extremely crucial role in Red Dead Redemption 2, he’s still around as a member of the Van Der Linde gang. If you’re looking for him, you can find John Marston hanging around camp, just like every other normal gang member.
Take note, however, that there might be times when he won’t be there. NPCs technically follow their own sporadic schedule, so he might be off doing something else. When you do find him, John Marston will be with his wife, Abigail, and his son, Jack.
You can approach John and strike up a conversation if you want to. There will be times when he will give out a main quest, which you can choose to accept. Otherwise, you can just talk to him like every other NPC in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Since Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first game, we get to see more of John back when he was still part of the gang. Apparently, he has an even lower position than Arthur Morgan, sitting with a lower-middle rank.
Early on in Red Dead Redemption 2, John Marston will suffer an injury. However, he’ll soon be back on his feet to join the rest of his crew in getting up to no good in the wild west.
John Marston isn’t the only character from the first game that appears in Red Dead Redemption 2. Apart from his wife and son, we’ll also see other familiar faces including the infamous Dutch van der Linde, Javier Escuella, and Bill Williamson.
