New World Weaponsmithing Leveling
How to Level Weaponsmithing
What is Weaponsmithing?
In New World, Weaponsmithing is a Crafting Skill that allows you to make your own Shields, Great Axes, Longswords, Rapiers, and War Hammers at a Forge in a settlement. It is the perfect Skill for players who don’t want to wait for Melee Weapon drops from enemies or quests, and those who want the best of the best.
Like any Skill, Gathering plays a huge part in Weaponsmithing as well as you’ll need materials to craft your desired armaments. And there’s no complicated steps to levelling up, either—the more you craft, the more XP you gain.
Forges
You can’t craft at just any Forge. Each Melee Weapon has a Tier level requirement, and not every Forge meets that, so you’ll need to find one that does in another settlement.
To level up a Forge’s Tier, you and other players on your server need to complete requests from that settlement’s Town Project Board—it’s unfortunately not something you can do on your own.
To easily locate a Forge that is the correct level for what you want to craft, you can ask other players in the Chat if they know where one is to save you checking every single town.
I’ve found a Forge that’s the correct Tier level for what I want to craft.
How to Weaponsmith
Once you’re at a Forge, you’ll see a list of recipes that you can craft depending on what materials you have in your inventory. For example, if you’re making Pillaging Crude Iron Armaments, you’ll need 25 Iron Ore, 25 Rawhide, and 40 Green Wood.
Crafting and Trade Skills go hand in hand with Weaponsmithing, and if you’re not a certain Mining level to gather the ore, you won’t be able to get it yourself without the use of the Trading Board and dropping a lot of cash. So be mindful of your companion skills too when you have a certain weapon in mind, unless you’re happy with buying materials.
Once you’ve gathered your resources, head to their respective Crafting Station and refine them so that they can be used to create your weapon.

Perks, Gem Slots and Attribute Points
When crafting Melee Weapons, you have the option to pay Azoth to give you a higher chance of making one with a Perk, Gem Slot, or Attribute Points. The more you pay, the better odds you have, though the end result is completely random and you’re not always guaranteed to get one that you want.
Special Resources are different. They can be applied when crafting to ensure a certain Perk. For example, when making a tool, the Azoth Extraction Perk can be applied if you have the Drop of Azoth Oil Special Resource, which gives you 1 Azoth every time you gather with that tool. There are different ones for Weaponsmithing so it’s worth hunting them down if there’s a specific Perk you’re after.
Leveling Weaponsmithing Fast
The more your character level increases, the higher weapons and armor you’ll need. Therefore, it’s important to keep leveling Weaponsmithing if you are crafting your own stuff so you are keeping up to date with the best Melee Weapons available.
As mentioned above, you level up Weaponsmithing by smithing weapons. Shocking, right? Literally everything you craft gives you XP, but you’re not going to want to keep making the same thing forever as your level scales. As you increase, you should be making higher tier items.
Here’s what you should be crafting at certain levels to ensure your Weaponsmithing skill is increasing as fast as possible:
• Level 1-50: Iron Great Axe – requires 12 Iron Ingot, 2 Coarse Leather, 3 Timber
• Level 51-100: Steel Rapier – requires 8 Steel Ingot, 1 Coarse Leather, 2 Timber
• Level 101-150: Iron Warhammer – requires 12 Iron Ingot, 2 Coarse Leather, 3 Timber
• Level 151-200: Orichalcum Rapier – requires 10 Orichalcum Ingot, 1 Infused Leather, 2 Ironwood Planks
