Welcome to our New World Fast Travel Locations guide! This section contains details on how to fast travel across the island of Aeternum, which costs and factors to consider you need to make, and some info on where to discover the needed fast travel resource Azoth.
New World Fast Travel Locations
How to Fast Travel
Fast traveling is one of the most useful features in New World. Got Petalcaps to find or want to go fishing in a certain spot? Just warp closer instead of walking. It is a little bit different compared to other MMORPGs, though, as you can’t just open your map, pick a destination, and warp to it. And there are no mounts either.
The game has two ways of moving around Aeternum: using Azoth and Recalling to an Inn.
The main fast travel method, which requires Azoth, lets you go to any previously-visited settlement or Spirit Shrine—but only while you’re in a settlement area or at a Shrine already. Cost varies depending on your Faction level, how much you’re carrying, and how far away it is. Recalling to an Inn brings you back to a settlement for free, but it’s capped at once per hour and you need to have already checked into that specific Inn.
To fast travel, open up your map and zoom out until the gold settlement icons appear. Then click on where you want to go and the fast travel option will pop up on the right-hand side, letting you choose whether you want to spend Azoth or Recall.
How to get Azoth – New World Fast Travel Locations
An important note: you can only carry a maximum of 1,000 Azoth. If you hit the cap, any extra you accumulate will be lost so make sure you’re spending it regularly by fast traveling.
You won’t be able to get your hands on some Azoth until you’ve completed the Commitment to the Cause quest which tasks you with taking on some missions for your chosen Faction. You’ll receive the quest early on in your adventure, taking only an hour or two to reach. It will reward you with the currency once you’ve finished.
- I’ve finished the Commitment to the Cause quest.
After this, you’ll start seeing Azoth pop up as a quest reward quite often. Fast traveling is something you’ll probably do more than you realize so it’s a good idea to complete as many quests and side quests as you can.
Level 20 enemies will also start to drop Azoth randomly, meaning you can farm the currency easily once you’re a high enough level to take them on. And at level 20, you will be able to farm Azoth at Corrupted Breaches. To help you level up quickly, be sure to check out our Leveling Guide!
- Reached Level 20 – yay!
Azoth Extraction Perk
Azoth Extraction is a random perk that gives you a 30%+ chance to gain 1 Azoth when using a Gathering tool with the perk. To get a tool with Azoth Extraction, you have to craft one at a tier 2 Workshop in a settlement.
Before you can craft, you need materials. Iron tools are a good starting point and will last you a while, but you can also make Flint, Steel, Starmetal, and Orichalcum tools if you wish—dependent on your Mining level, of course.
Ore is mined from veins which is then smelted into an Ingot. You’ll may also need Leather and some kind of wood depending on what tool you are crafting. Gather enough to make multiple.
- I’ve collected enough materials to craft the Gathering tools
From here, there are two ways you can increase your odds of getting the perk. You can spend 15 Azoth for a higher chance of getting a tool with it, but it’s not a guarantee that it’ll be Azoth Extraction so it’s up to you whether you want to take the risk. And if you have it, the Drop of Azoth Oil Special Resource guarantees the perk. You obtain it from harvesting Blightroot.
Once you’ve got what you need, craft your desired tool until you see Azoth Extraction in the item information.
- I successfully crafted a tool with the Azoth Extraction Perk!
Recalling to an Inn – New World Fast Travel Locations
Recalling to an Inn is your free way of fast traveling but it is very limited. Each settlement has an Inn which can be checked into and doing this makes that specific Inn your Recall point. You can only check into one at a time.
The downside to it is that it can only be used once per hour but you can warp back to your Inn from anywhere on the map, which you can’t do when fast traveling using Azoth.
To Recall to an Inn, click on a settlement on the map and then you’ll see the option on the right-hand side. You can also check how much time has elapsed since your last Recall here.
