Since the game is still in the Early Access, the default Declare War option hasn’t been activated yet. But there is a way around that.
Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord How to Declare War
The only way to declare war in the current state of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is to raid and loot villages or caravans that belong to the kingdom you wish to fight.
Follow these steps to start a war with the faction/kingdom:
- Make sure that your own city is close enough to the faction you wish to attack
- Raid any village or caravan that is close to the castle or city with the garrison you wish to go to war with
- Allow the enemy kingdom to attack your city
- Start the war
If you choose a kingdom that is too far from your own, they will be mad at you, but will not send their troops to attack you.
You also have to be prepared to lose 200 influence points for raiding a village or a caravan.
Lastly, make sure that you have enough troops to withstand the initial attack of the enemy faction, so you can respond accordingly and win the battle.
Mount and Blade Bannerlord How to Make Peace
To make peace in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord, you have to find the opposing general on the battlefield. Speak with them, and choose to discuss something else. You should be able to barter for peace in that sub-menu. It’ll cost you a couple grand, which is probably a favorable alternative to doing battle. Also, if you’re really charming and good at persuasion, you might be able to convince the general to defect to your side. That’s not really making peace, but hey, it’s there.
Now, the “proper” way of bartering for peace is picking that option from the same menu from which you can declare war. Unfortunately, just like declaring war, bartering for peace is grayed out. So, the only way we know of making peace is speaking with the general, at least, for now. But why would you have to make peace if you can’t even declare war? Well…
Mount and Blade Bannerlord Factions Declaring War Randomly
There seems to be some kind of bug in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord which causes factions, sometimes more than one at the same time, to declare war on you. This might happen because you’ve sent a party member to work on their own, and they’ve made some sort of mess. However, that’s not always the case; apparently, it can happen for no discernible reason. Unfortunately, there’s no way you can work around this problem; you can either reload a previous save, or barter for peace as described above.
