What Are Wardwoven Chests?
Wardwoven Chests are a new addition to Season 3, located at the conclusion of the Vaults activity. They serve as a bonus reward for daring adventurers who successfully navigate the dungeons while evading traps and hazards. These chests contain a plethora of rewards, including Rare & Legendary Items, Gold, Nightmare Dungeon & Vault Sigils, Crafting Materials, Governing & Tuning Stones, and Journals of Zoltun Kulle.
How to Open Wardwoven Chests
Opening Wardwoven Chests requires accumulating Zoltun’s Warding. This status effect is gained at the start of any Vault by interacting with the Statue of Zoltun Kulle. Each Pearl of Warding acquired grants three stacks of Zoltun’s Warding, and players can purchase multiple stacks if they possess additional Pearls.
How to get Pearls of Warding
Pearls of Warding, the currency for Zoltun’s Warding, can be obtained through two methods:
- Complete the Vaults: Successfully completing Vault in Diablo 4 and opening the chest at the end rewards you with 2 Pearls of Warding.
- Killing Heralds of Malphas: Slay these foes, summoned in areas with Arcane Tremors, to earn 1 Pearl of Warding per Herald.
To open Wardwoven Chests successfully, players must contend with the traps and hazards within Vaults. Getting hit by these obstacles diminishes your Zoltun’s Warding stacks, adding a strategic layer to the game.

World Tier Difficulty and Wardwoven Chests
The number of Wardwoven Chests increases with each World Tier:
- World Tier 1 & 2 Chest: Requires 1x Zoltun’s Warding to unlock.
- World Tier 3 Chest: Requires 4x Zoltun’s Warding to unlock.
- World Tier 4 Chest: Requires 10x Zoltun’s Warding to unlock.
Playing on World Tier 4 provides four chests, and to unlock all, players need 15 stacks of Zoltun’s Warding. Remember, Pearls of Warding can be utilized liberally if avoiding traps isnt your forte the key is reaching the end with 15 stacks.
