Tungsten
Tungsten is a refined resource in Astroneer. Wolframite refines into Tungsten when placed on the Smelting Furnace.
To craft the following:
- Hydrazine Thruster
- Chemistry Lab
- Trade Platform
- Medium Generator
- Winch
Wolframite is another ore, the ore of Tungsten. Sound familiar? What you might have seen in the computer, are base components that require Tungsten, and something called Tungsten Carbide. Tungsten Carbide is a fusion resource. This is where it gets interesting. You can fuse certain materials in a Chemistry Lab, to form a new man made material. For example:
Tungsten+Carbon=Tungsten Carbide
Compund+Carbon=Plastic
Once you think you are set, you can return home to Terran. But before you do, place a Beacon down next to where you land on a new planet. This will help you keep track of where you have been. You could also place beacons on you, or your car. So if you die, you can find them easily.
Tungsten How to Get?
Try solid fuel thruster, costs only 1 ammonium 1 aluminium. Be aware that it is only usable for a one way trip, so if you go to Barren for the wolframite (tungsten), make 2 thrusters. Also unlock small shuttle, that should do the trick.
If you go to Tundra you can get tungsten, as well as iron, which is needed for the atmospheric condenser, and also Zinc, but you’ll have to trade scrap for lithium and copper. so if you go to tundra I recommend you bring a good amount more copper than you NEED to get going because you won’t be able to get more if you run out there besides trading
Also if you hover over the hologram of an item in your crafting slot or a printer (fabricator) it tells you what machine makes it, and if it’s a smelted resource, not a chemistry resource, what planets it’s ore if found on.
