Prairie King & Fector’s Challenge Guide
An easy step by step on how to get the Prairie King achievement, and included easiest strategy to get the Fector’s Challenge achievement, aka the hardest achievement in the game.
What is Journey Of The Prairie King
JOTPK, is a video game you can find inside Stardew Vally A simple shoot and dodge game that once completing you can gain 1-2 achievements from as well as a version of JOTPK that you can place in your own home!
Where can i find it?
Its located on the right of the Stardrop Saloon (open from 12pm-12am), in the arcade section. its the arcade with the star on it.
Whats the point?
For most people this game is useless as you don’t gain much from it, no gold, no in game progression. You do gain a JOTPK arcade machine to add into your home, and an achievement. So if your not looking for a cool decoration or not bothered in trying to 100% the game then there isn’t really much point to it.

How to Win
Winning Basics
(Your luck does not effect the game at all)
Simply climb through all 13 areas without losing all of your lives and you will win. Gaining the ‘Prairie King’ achievement and a console for you to add into your house in Stardew. You need to buy the items offered or else you will struggle
Items Guide
- Area 1-2: Purchase the ammo box (15 coins), if you’re a little short take the gun (10 coins), if you cant afford either, restart the run.
- Area 1-4: Purchase the other upgrade. I would recommend quitting if you don’t have both as its easier to restart here then lose in the late game
- Area 2-1: If you have enough for the gun (20) or ammo (30) buy them, but if you don’t that’s fine just skip the boots.
- Area 2-3: Purchase the second ammo upgrade (30) If you don’t have enough for this you will struggle in world 3, hence why you skip the boots.
- Area 3-1: Purchase the gun upgrade (20) if you’re able to, if not purchase the boots. if you’re very low on coins though i would skip the boots for the next upgrade
- Area 3-3: Purchase either the boots (8) or the gun upgrade (20) depending on what you’re last choice was if you can afford it
Area Tips
Area 2-3:
- Try and stick to the middle, just off to the left and right (not directly above a bridge) and clear the fast enemies from the left and right. The bridges will slow/block other enemies from the top and bottom. You’ll need to move between bridges to collect power ups /coins and prevent being swarmed. Again, try and use the bridges as a block and not stand in front of spawns due to the fast enemies. Shooting into the spawns when moving here can help save some deaths.
Area 3-3:
- There are a lot of enemies here, but this can be an advantage. The flying enemies are blocked by the mummies so you can use the horde as a buffer and focus on one/two corners. Swarms of flying enemies will come (particularly with about 25% left to go). Try and keep a power-up for these, it’s extremely hard to survive otherwise. Avoid the sides as much as you can as the flying enemies spawn all over the edge.
Fector’s Challenge
Beat ‘Journey Of The Prairie King’ without dying.
A haunting achievement to get, but its possible.
Every time you past an area, it will save your progress, close the game sleep and go back in the next day. if you lose a life, close out of the machine and exit to main menu, it will restart the run from when you last slept. you can keep doing this to the point you slowly make it through each area a day and it will be achievable. following the same area guide tips from before will make it even easier.
doing this strategy will take about 3-5 hours (from experience) it seems long and a bit of a grind but its all worth it for the achievement
Cheater
FREE ACHIEVEMENT
If you really cant succeed to do it the hard way, you can cheat it. Simply by using Steam achievement manager (however you wont unlock the rewards in game)
If you want to unlock it in game, there is a cheat available, i have found one that works on nexusmods that makes it possible for you to have 99 lives, speedy bullets and max items on start called “Easy Prairie King – Journey of the Prairie King Difficulty Changer (Fastest Fector’s Challenge achievement)”
I wouldn’t recommend using this cheat and if you want to know how to set it up your at the wrong place cause im not gonna help, but it is an easy way to gain the achievement if you’re that lazy >
