The Butcher, a terrifying and iconic boss from Diablo 1, returns in Diablo 4 to haunt dungeon delvers once more. Players will be able to hear its blood-curdling screams for fresh meat, but tracking down this beast is not an easy task. The Butcher’s appearance in Diablo 4 is completely random and unpredictable, with no set spawn locations or means of summoning it. However, it can only appear within dungeons, not the open world, in any room regardless of how much of the dungeon you have cleared.
To increase your chances of encountering The Butcher, it is best to grind through the 23 side dungeons in Diablo 4’s beta. However, it’s not a fight to take on alone, so be sure to bring along some friends to help you defeat it. It is worth noting that The Butcher will despawn if you take too long to defeat it or if you die during the fight. This means you will need to wait for it to respawn randomly in a dungeon to fight it again.

The Butcher Location Diablo 4 (Loot Drops)
It is an iconic boss that first appeared in the original Diablo game, and it is now making a return in Diablo 4. The Butcher is a fearsome demon that wields a huge cleaver and has a bloodthirsty appetite for human flesh.
How to Beat the Butcher Guide
Defeating The Butcher in Diablo 4 is a difficult task as it has high HP and deals significant damage. It is recommended to fight it as a group, using the best Barbarian build to inflict heavy DPS. Players should avoid The Butcher’s front at all costs, as most of its attacks come from the front and can deal fatal damage to the player’s character. It is crucial to attack it from behind and use movement abilities to avoid its charge attack, which can be deadly if it connects.
If players manage to defeat The Butcher in Diablo 4, it will drop at least one or two Legendary items for everyone who participated in the fight. It is unclear if The Butcher’s loot pool has an increased Legendary drop rate. Moreover, The Butcher can drop the only known Unique item in the Diablo 4 Open Beta, called The Butcher’s Cleaver. This is an Axe weapon for Barbarians, which is incredibly powerful with its Lucky Hit power having a 100% chance to Fear and Slow (70%) enemies for four (4) seconds!
How to Find The Butcher Diablo 4?
The Butcher is a legendary boss in Diablo, but in Diablo 4’s Open Beta, finding him can be a daunting task. Unlike in the original game, locating The Butcher is not easy, as he is a rare, random spawn in any of the 23 side dungeons in Fractured Peaks. However, it is worth noting that The Butcher cannot spawn in boss rooms.
Our team has extensively explored 18 of the 23 side dungeons, but we did not encounter The Butcher even once. This indicates that his appearance is quite rare and challenging to come across. If you are looking to encounter The Butcher, your best bet would be to keep grinding side dungeons with a party, as this increases your chances of locating him.
The Butcher Loot Drops & Rewards
Based on the information we have collected so far, defeating The Butcher in Diablo 4’s Open Beta will reward each player with at least one or two Legendary items. However, it is unclear whether The Butcher’s loot pool has an increased chance of dropping Legendary items compared to other bosses in the game.
One exciting drop that players can receive from The Butcher is the Unique item known as The Butcher’s Cleaver, which is currently the only known Unique item in Diablo 4’s Open Beta. This powerful Axe weapon is exclusive to Barbarians and comes with a special ability called “Lucky Hit,” which has a 100% chance of Fear and a 70% chance of Slowing enemies for four seconds. The Butcher’s Cleaver is undoubtedly a highly coveted item for Barbarian players, and its acquisition is a testament to one’s prowess in taking down The Butcher.
