Shovel Location
In the first trailer’s opening sequence and the second trailer of the game, “Endnight” has showcased a shovel being mounted inside a helicopter and then later being used for digging purposes. In a Q&A session with Farket, Endnight confirmed that the shovel can be used in the game. To obtain the shovel, players need to head towards the cave located on the south side of the big snowy mountain. However, accessing the shovel requires players to have a breather and a rope gun.

The Shovel appears to be modelled off of a Dohiker Survival Spade.
A theory is that the Shovel Can only be used for certain areas as a cutscene (maybe) and to be used for building a trap. It cannot be used to dig wherever you want.
What is Digging with the Shovel Used
In the game’s trailer, the player can be seen using the shovel to locate a bunker. The developers of the game took inspiration from a TV show called “The Curse of Oak Island” on the History Channel. They were intrigued by the idea of digging up something interesting and made it a part of the game. Besides locating hidden spots, players can also use the shovel to dig traps, access cave entrances, and even bury bodies (if it looks realistic enough).
In the original version of the game, called The Forest, digging was not possible as the game did not use voxel/block-based graphics like Minecraft. The addition of digging as a feature in the game could provide players with new ways to build and enhance their bases.
It seems that the design of the Shovel in the game is based on the Dohiker Survival Spade.
To obtain the Shovel in the game, players will need to have several tools, including a Zipline, Rebreather, and weapons to fight against the game’s enemies. Starting from the beach where the helicopter is located, players should follow the river until they reach the cave located before the mountains. Once inside the cave, players must explore it until they find a slide that leads to deeper levels. Continuing to search, players will eventually come across a strange wall that emits a blue light, possibly the same building where the monster from the cave with the hanging guy on a rope is located. The Shovel can be found next to a body on the right-hand side of this area.
