How to Find Boatswain Ambrose
To start hunting down the foe, you first need to accept the side quest that tasks you with defeating him. At level 17, head to First Light and speak to Sylvia Oakes inside the Town Hall. She’ll give you the One Threat at a Time quest which asks you to head to Nyhart’s Anchorage to kill two pirates leaders, including Boatswain Ambrose. Arrr!
I’ve reached level 17 and accepted the One Threat at a Time quest.
Nyhart’s Anchorage is northwest of First Light, right by the beach. It’s very easy to get to: just follow the pathway until you reach a dock with a giant ship below it.

Boatswain Ambrose’s Location – New World One Threat at a Time Guide
Once you reach Nyhart’s Anchorage, you’ll no doubt notice that Boatswain Ambrose is nowhere to be seen. The map claims he’s here… So where is he? Let us save you from searching every corner – we did it and it’s painful.
Fight your way through the horde of Anchorshot Pirates and down the stairs by the house at the end to the dock. Instead of going towards the big ship, keep going forward until you reach another set of stairs that lead to the sand.
From here, follow the direction of the quest marker until you see the mouth of a cave. Boatswain Ambrose is waiting for you here. Get ready to ambush him. If he’s not there, wait for him to spawn.
I’ve found Boatswain Ambrose. Time to kick his butt.
How to beat Boatswain Ambrose
The pirate isn’t too hard to beat. You just have to know when to dodge as he has a Great Axe equipped that can deal a decent chunk of damage if you’re not careful.
A ranged weapon is best against Boatswain Ambrose, such as a Bow or Fire Staff, but if you prefer to get up close and personal, make use of your dodge and get as many hits in as you can in between his swings.
