Eastward The World Above Walkthrough

Welcome to our Eastward The World Above Walkthrough guide. This guide will detail everything you need to know about the Entrance, including exploring the dig site, getting your first crack at Earth Born, and raising John’s Frying Pan.

Eastward The World Above Walkthrough

Buy the Treasure Locator

After the opening, exit your home. Before doing anything else, you should buy the Treasure Locator at Johnny’s Emporium. It’s located in the Northeastern most corner of the opening area. The Treasure Radar is always equipped, and begins beeping when you’re closing in on a Treasure Chest.

There’s a chest in the furthest southwest corner of this area containing 50 Salt, which is the main currency in Eastward.

Head up the stairs and go west.

Going to the Mine

In the next area, you’ll be stopped at the bar. You can’t enter here yet. At the top of this area, you’ll see Hello Grocery and the Earth Born arcade machine. The grocery store isn’t open yet, and you need a Memory Card to unlock the arcade cabinet.

Head south down the hill and turn right to find a treasure chest containing 50 Salt. Now, go east to get to the Digger Dorms. Enter Dorm 3 to find a chest containing 50 Salt.

Exit and head west to enter the mines. In the next area, go north to trigger the next cutscene.

A Slug Problem – Eastward The World Above Walkthrough

After a story cutscene, Chuck will rush in and tell you there’s a slug problem. Now you have a chance to save at the Fridge in this room. Then, head south through the exit Chuck came through.

Now it’s time for your first taste of combat. Drag the box to the right to get to the Slugs.

Use the Y button on Switch to attack the Slugs with your Frying Pan. You’ll have to turn off the power generator to defeat the Slugs blocking the power line. Once they’re defeated, connect the power line at the bottom of the area and turn the generator back on to unlock a nearby door. Open the chest within to find a key.

Disconnect the power lines where the Slugs were, and connect it to the other line. This will open the door in the top left of the room, but if you try to leave, Chuck stops you and says you need to bomb the nests. Enter the room Chuck is standing in the northeast corner and use your key to unlock the door. In here you will find the Bombs. You can now place Bombs with X!

Place a Bomb next to the boxes blocking the path to the left of the storeroom. Enter and place a Bomb next to the nest, destroying it. Now, you can exit the room through the door we opened earlier on the far west end. Bomb the boxes and exit.

A Slug Problem – Eastward The World Above Walkthrough

In the next room, Bomb the boxes on the left path. Watch out for the Electric Slug that will drop from the ceiling. Then, proceed north and Bomb the slug nest to destroy it. If you’re running low on Bombs, you can find more in the yellow barrels on your right upon entering this area.

In the easternmost part of the hallway, you’ll find a bombable wall. Destroy it to find a chest containing a Gear Part.

Head north through the hallway to reach the next slug nest. Destroy it. From there, head left and proceed through the door.

Here, you’ll meet Dr. Boguta who will give you a Hot Dog recovery item. Now, leave the area by going back the way you came. This will trigger a brief cutscene, and the door to your right will now be open, with a handful of Slugs to fight. After the door closes behind you, head down the ladder.

Fight your way through the Slugs and destroy all three nests. There are plenty of barrels to replenish your Bombs if needed. After you blow up the final nest, your maximum health will increase by one heart!

Exit the mine. After the cutscene, you’ll receive 2 Sandrupe, which can be used later to cook. Head back to Potcrock Isle to trigger a cutscene outside Hello Grocery.

Your First Encounter with Earth Born

After the cutscene, you need to help Sam make friends! Head into Hello Grocery and buy a Memory Card for 25 Salt. After you exit the store, you’ll get your first crack at Earth Born!

Play through the Earth Born tutorial as directed. Don’t worry when all your party members fall — you’re not supposed to win this tutorial.

Afterwards, you’ll get your first Pixball. Pixballs are items to use within Earth Born. You can buy more at the capsule machine to the left of the game machine with Tokens found in chests throughout Eastward.

Upgrade Your Frying Pan at Sunnyside Ranch – Eastward The World Above Walkthrough

For now, it’s time to find Mason at Sunnyside Ranch. Head back to the first area of Potcrock Isle and go through the exit at the very top. Now you’re at the School. Head east to continue towards Sunnyside Ranch.

Once at the ranch, talk to Mason, who will have a Quest Marker above his head. He will upgrade John’s Frying Pan, giving you the Charge Attack. You can now hold Y and aim where you want to launch your attack with the Left Stick. Give it a try on the Sandrupe!

Now, head back to John’s house. Go to the stove to cook dinner for Sam. Select the three Sandrupes you’ve gathered as ingredients. Stop the slot machines trying to match symbols to make Sandrupe Pasta. After dinner, you’ve completed the prologue!
