Bastille of Insight Puzzle Solutions
Bastille of Insight puzzles are among the three puzzle challenges you’ll encounter in Nightingale. While Bastilles of Intellect and Agility test your memory and parkour skills, Insight puzzles challenge your ability to track information. You’ll need to keep your eyes peeled and spot patterns to complete the tricky objectives. Here’s everything you need to know about Bastille of Insight Puzzles in Nightingale.
Where to Find Bastille of Insight Puzzles
Bastille of Insight puzzles are one of the few types of puzzles in the game. You can identify them by opening the map and checking for a magnifying glass icon. Hovering over the icon will confirm it as an Insight puzzle.
When you arrive at a Bastille of Insight, the area will resemble a standard Fae ruin, with wisps floating around. These can be found in Tier 1 worlds and beyond and can also feature in end-game Vault runs.
Completing these objectives is crucial for progressing through your Vault mission. Additionally, discovering one of these puzzles in the Fae Realms can unlock new recipes and grant you Essence equivalent to your realm Tier.
Solving Bastille of Insight Puzzles
There are two methods to solve the Bastille of Insight puzzles in Nightingale:
- Unlocking the runes in order.
- Revealing runes by observing Wisps traveling near them.
Upon encountering a complex with an Insight puzzle, your first task is to identify the locations of the runes. These runes exist in two states: either invisible or with a slight red illumination when visible. Typically, the light of the Wisps makes the runes visible for a brief period before they disappear. If you’re unable to interact with one of the red runes, it indicates that you need to activate another rune first.
Regarding the design and layout of the Insight puzzle, runes can be located in various spots. Fae realm maps often feature runes on stone pillars and ruin walls, some of which may be out of sight from the puzzle core reward box. In Vault versions, runes are typically hidden under stairs, along long corridor pathways, and in more open areas.
Based on our testing, runes that are not in the correct order remain invisible unless recently passed by a Wisp. This can be advantageous as it allows you to mentally note the runes for future activations. While this may not be crucial for Insight puzzles found in realms, it can be very helpful in larger areas within Vaults, where around five to six runes are needed to progress to the next objective.
Tip: The central piece of any Insight Puzzle will have the rune order detailed on the sides of the basing or along the checkpoint indicator in the Vault. You can refer to an example in the first image in the guide.
Once you’ve activated all the associated runes, the magic chest should open, offering players loot. In Vaults, you should also notice a doorway opening to the next stage of the vault.
