Killing Hulk, one of your toughest enemies in Helldivers 2, gives you success. In this guide, we have detailed Hulk’s location and how to kill him.
Where to Find Hulk and How to Kill
The Hulk stands as one of the most formidable Automaton adversaries in Helldivers 2. These tank-like foes boast substantial health and armor, distinguishing them from their lesser counterparts with their imposing bulk. Encountering Hulks becomes more frequent on higher difficulties within the game; however, Challenging or Hard missions may only host one or two. Slaying a Hulk earns players the prestigious “Nothing is bigger than Freedom” trophy/achievement, while daily mission objectives may also feature these formidable foes. Here, we detail where to locate Hulks and strategies for dispatching them efficiently.
Hulks Location
Hulks exclusively inhabit planets under Automaton dominion, rendering efforts futile on Terminid planets. To pinpoint Automaton-inhabited planets, consult the Galactic War map accessible from your starship. Focus on the left side of the map, marked prominently with “Automatons” in red. Planets under Automaton control display “Automaton Control” in the top left when selected.
During missions on Automaton-controlled planets, locating a Hulk may take time, with no guarantee of their presence. Higher difficulties increase the likelihood of encountering Hulks. While Challenging missions yield a reasonable number, proficient squads can tackle Hard difficulty and beyond with confidence.
Note: For Quickplay matches on specific planets housing Automaton enemies, ensure the targeted planet is hovered over. Attempting Quickplay without this step may result in placement on a Terminid world.
How to Defeat Hulk Automatons
Automaton Hulks bear resemblance to Terminid Chargers in resilience and lethality. Dispatching a Hulk demands considerable firepower, as they possess the capacity to deliver fatal blows in one strike. Beware of the flamethrower variant, which, while comparable in toughness, boasts continuous flamethrower capabilities. Maintain distance from these variants to evade their formidable reach.
Regular Hulks substitute flamethrowers with a weaker laser gun, albeit still potent. Exercise caution, as both variants wield spinning blades capable of delivering fatal blows at close range.
Target Weak Point Vents on the Hulk’s Back
The most effective strategy against a Hulk involves targeting the small vents on its back. These vents serve as cooling mechanisms; sustained fire causes overheating and eventual explosion. High-powered weaponry such as the Machine Gun or explosives like the Expendable Anti-Tank, Autocannon, or Grenade Launcher prove effective. Alternatively, standard grenades suffice, albeit with increased difficulty in precise targeting.
Tip: Utilize the Jump Pack support stratagem for swift evasion when confronted directly by a Hulk. Flight over the adversary grants precious moments for counterattack or strategic repositioning.
Employ Explosive Stratagems
In addition to specialized weaponry, explosive stratagems offer effective solutions. Ensure the selected stratagem boasts a short call-in time, as Hulks swiftly relocate. Orbital Airburst Strike and Orbital Precision Strike serve as viable options, with Orbital Railcannon Strike excelling at higher levels.
Unlock the potential of Orbital Precision Strike, often overlooked but adept at tracking moving targets. Coordinate with allies to outmaneuver Hulks and exploit their vulnerabilities.
